About This Place

Welcome to Grubbio, where culinary adventures await at every corner. Today, I’m thrilled to introduce a gem nestled in the heart of L'Eixample, Amalia's Portuguese Flavours. Located at Carrer del Comte d'Urgell, 132, this delightful restaurant promises a picturesque journey through the vibrant tastes of Portugal.

What truly sets Amalia's apart are its exquisite sweets, with the pastel de nata stealing the show. Rinaldo Montalvao raves that it is one of the best places in Barcelona for these iconic Portuguese treats, and I couldn’t agree more. Each bite reveals a perfectly gooey filling encased in a crispy crust that remains delightful even after 24 hours, as Parichia mentions. It’s no surprise that guests leave with smiles, indulging in the sumptuous offerings.

The atmosphere here is both welcoming and unpretentious. As you step inside, you’ll find a modest yet cozy interior, punctuated by friendly service that makes every visitor feel like family. N.K.A. highlights the warmth of the staff, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The option to sit outside adds an inviting charm, perfect for enjoying a coffee and pastry while soaking in the local ambiance.

Speaking of coffee, Amalia's serves up a wonderful selection. As Polina Shakirova notes, the espresso and cortado are remarkably well-balanced, striking a perfect harmony without a bitter aftertaste. This makes it an ideal companion to their sweet and savory menu which also features delightful dishes like the famed cod pie, praised by Yuri Perez for its out-of-this-world flavor.

While service might be on the slow side during busy hours, it is a testament to their commitment to quality and the personal touch each patron receives. It’s a small price to pay for the extraordinary culinary experience that lays ahead.

In summary, Amalia's Portuguese Flavours is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Portuguese culture, encapsulated in every morsel and sip. Whether you're a seasoned aficionado of Portuguese cuisine or exploring it for the first time, prepare to embark on a delightful voyage through flavors that will undoubtedly keep you coming back for more.

It is one of the best places to enjoy Portuguese sweets in Barcelona. The food is superb, and the service is very amicable.

Simply the best pastel de nata I've ever tried, and the other desserts looked equally enticing (9/10) The service was very welcoming and sweet, leaving no room for complaints (10/10) While the interior is simple but fine, it gets the job done. The availability of some tables outside adds a nice touch (7/10) 9/10

Egg tarts is a must! A bit on sweeter side but the crust stays crispy for > 24 hrs and the fillings is perfectly gooey

Lovely Portuguese coffee and pastries. We particularly enjoyed the ‘pastel de nata’ and the cod pie. The latter was simply out of this world. We will surely return time and time again. Service is very friendly but on the slow side, as there are not enough staff to look after more than 3-4 customers at a time.

We came here not the first time! Staff is super friendly. There are about 5 tables inside and 2 outside i guess. Decent variety of Portuguese sweet and salty deserts. Coffee!!! Wonderfull coffee!!! Espresso, cortado for me is an indicator of the quality! The taste is not too sour and not bitter. Well-balanced.

The Pasteis de Nata are simply spectacular! Top tier level! Scrumptious! Caldo verde is great too.... Lovely vibe and great service from the Portuguese staff.... Highly recommend!!

What a beautiful little cafe.the best pastis de nata ive ever tasted anywhere and the empanadas where just beautiful.id go back to barcelona just to go to this shop again
